General Managers Message
Dayne Bulloch

Kia ora kotou,

During the week a few of us had a meeting with Kate from the Western Bay of Plenty District Council to look at what we plants we could use next to the new cart path.  As we got out there the Banded Rail (Moho pereru) made itself known.  Not only do we have a great course in an amazing setting, but the club is also custodians of some of our nations endangerd birds.  We are lucky as the Banded Rail is very rarely seen and suffered a major decline due to its loss of its coastal wetland habitat around the rest of the country.  We were also told that the course is visited by the equally as rare Kotuku (White Heron).  Golf courses provide habitat for many of our native birds and are often great areas for carbon capture within urban settings.

Just know, even if your golf isn’t going great, you are helping the environmental legacy of New Zealand.  Maybe even taking some time to listen to the bird song will help you relax and get your swing back.

Nga mihi
Dayne Bulloch

9 Hole Ladies
Yvonne Hoskins

Yesterday we had our Shootout final.  Played in great conditions (and the weather was kind) this was strongly contested.  Jacqui Crossfield was our winner this year, with Diana O'Brien a very close runner up (only one stroke in it).  Well done ladies.

The rest of the field played a stableford haggle on the back 9.  Margaret Griffiths won the haggle today, Judith Eaton second, Lyn Bird third and Robyn Falconer fourth.  Congrats to all.

This coming Monday Rohanne Hancock and Jacqui Crossfield are representing our nine hole ladies in the Champion of Champions to be played at the Hauraki Course.  We wish you the very best of luck.

Last week on a fine sunny day, the nine hole ladies had a combined Ambrose competition with the nine hole men.  This was a fun day with prizes and raffles.  Teams were made up of two men and two ladies.

Winners on the day were the 'Idlers" with a score of 28.3.  The team consisted of Paul; Frank L; Betty and Margaret F.

Runners up were the 'Awesome Foursome" with a score of 29.9  - the team being Kevin; Russell; Yvonne and Lyn B.

There were three teams with a score of 30.  'The Fab 4' (Frank B; Mike; Sue; Daisy).  The 'Four Seasons' (Tom H; Bruce Bl; Pauline; Joy).  The team 'Darl' ( Allan W; Denis; Robin L; Lyn H).  Last but not least was 'The Dream Team' with 30.4 points (Trevor; Murray; Rohanne; Cheryl).

Raffle prizes were won by Pix; Robin L; Lyn B; Sue; Carol, Rod; Russell; Murray; Fred; Kevin.

Well done prize / raffles winners, hope all participants had a good day.
