General Managers Message
Dayne Bulloch

Kia ora kotou,

The year seems to be moving quicker as we reach the end of it, though the Christmas decorations seem to be put up earlier and earlier!

With Christmas and the festive season coming up it is time for a friendly reminder about our liquor licence:

Omokoroa Golf Club runs with a club licence.  This provides some unique challenges which includes those who are drinking alcohol in the clubhouse have to be members or signed in by a member.  Green fee players are classed as day members, so there is no issues there.  It also means that people are not allowed to bring their own alcohol onto the premises or drink on the course.  This applies to members as well.  Two spot checks have occurred over the last few months, and any breach could result in a loss of licence, which would impact everybody.  So please abide by the rules abide and not take alcohol onto the course.

While I am acting Ebenezer Scrooge, we have seen an increase of members playing in five balls.  The club does not allow five balls to play on the course.  We realise that with the increase of members, at certain times, tee times are at a premium.  We are in the process of looking at options on how to resolve this.

Thats this weeks message from the Grinch....

Captains Corner

Thank you to all those that have voiced their support to our Course Marshalls.  Like all our volunteers they are giving up their personal time so even a simple wave is appreciated.

Our membership is increasing rapidly as our wonderful game enjoys a resurgence post Covid.

The affect of this is it is becoming more important that all members use the Tee Booking System for your round.  It is going to a busy summer at our Club and simply turning up for a game with no tee booking could result in not being able to play when you want to.  If you can’t book online just call the office for help.

A reminder to all, the chains, ropes and hoops are in place around greens and fairways to ensure great playing surfaces around greens and approaches.  Also to keep off soft areas from sprinkler drainage around the greens fringes, so don’t pick up the rope and walk under it, don’t lift your trundler over it and don’t take a short cut via the green.  Also please ensure if you are driving a cart you observe the signs and keep the golf carts away from the greens approaches. This way we can all enjoy our wonderful course.

Don’t forget our 50’s and 60’s Rock’n’Roll night on the 30th November.  We need ticket sales to make this a success and kick off our Clubhouse Reno fund, so please buy your tickets asap from the office.  It will be a great night.

I had to cancel the Kaimai Tray interclub.  Thank you to the 50 members who put their names down, however with Morrisville GC pulling out and Omanu and Walton not being able to support full teams I have saved it for another day.

9 Hole Ladies
Yvonne Hoskins

This week in fine but windy weather, we played our first round of the Summer Cup.  This is taken from the best score of three out of five rounds.  There were some very good stableford points out there today ranging from high teens to low 20's.  No results yet as it's only the first round.  That's all there is to report this week folks......

Happy golfing,
