Learning Opportunity

Golf NZ have developed a programme called Golf Tutor which enables people to participate in learning modules online its a free resource and very helpful information.

There is one around the rules of golf - we often field questions on basic rules this is a great starting point for new and old golfers to get up to speed with things along with information on how to find rules when needed https://www.golftutor.co.nz/

A Word Around The Greens
Nathan Kerr, Head Greenkeeper

It has been a productive week on the course.

The 1st and 2nd cart path is under way with concrete being poured on Tuesday, Thanks to Collin for the amazing job of boxing the path up ready for concrete and a big thanks to the other volunteer’s that came and helped on Tuesday to help pour the concrete, it’s looking great and just another step towards having the golf course fully concrete cart pathed.

We have done some drainage work on the 2nd fairway, this area has been a problem for a while so some drainage lines had to be installed, this area will now dry out over time.

The temperature is going too drop low over this coming weekend and there could be frost delays  Saturday and Sunday morning so expect some delay of play if the course freezes over.

Congratulations to our matchplay winners, the match for the Omokoroa cup was contested between Swampy and Sascha, in a close match Sascha came away with the win at 1 up, well done Sascha. The presidents Cup was contested between Andrew Morgan and Shaun Murphy, a great game with Shaun coming away with the win 3 and 2. Great golfing well done Shaun.

This week is the pairs comp, hopefully you have all spoken to the office and registered your partner. You will be playing Nett best ball for this week so you do not have to play with your parnter however the following week will be Canadian Foursomes so you will need to play with your partner so be mindful of that when booking.

We actually present two Craig’s Investment prizes a month, on Saturday and Tuesday, for the best score of the day, either net or STB.

And, it is being played for this coming Saturday, 19th, and Tuesday 22nd July.

Presidents Message
John 'Swampy' Marsh

Winter rain has well and truly set in, bringing some disruption to our regular competitions. A big thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding during these wetter months.

Cart Users
Please ensure you're sticking to the cart paths or keeping to the rough and walking to your ball. This helps protect the course and keeps it in better condition for everyone.

Course Works
The cart path on Hole 1 has been partially poured, just in time before the rain hit. A huge thanks to all our volunteers who helped with the placement of concrete. Your time and effort are greatly appreciated!

Sand Bins
We will soon have extra sand bins on Holes 5 and 15 so you can refill your buckets. Please make sure you take these will you to fill your divots. This simple act helps the grass rejuvenate. And don’t forget those pitch marks, they’re easy to spot and fix when the greens are soft.

Drainage Update
The blocked drain on Hole 2 has now been replaced, thanks to Colin Gee and Kevin Donald for their hard work.

Firewood Enquiries
For those needing firewood, please contact Colin Gee on 027 577 1987.

Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers and generous sponsors. Your contributions keep the course running smoothly.

Happy golfing, and stay warm out there!
